Bee Saving Paper

Bee Saving Paper  is an innovative, 100% compostable material designed to save exhausted bees. It is tree free – made of lemon grass. The paper contains sugar which works like an energy drink to help bees fly further.

It also contains honey plants seeds which will grow into flowers, giving bees an extra “rest stop” and source of food next year. Additionally it is scented with lemongrass oil which attracts the bees.

TREE FREE

Bee Saving Paper is made of lemon grass fibers. This way we won’t cut trees to save the bees.

UPCYCLED

Upcycling is a process of using materials of no value to create materials of value, for example lemon grass used to make lemon grass oil is changed into our paper.

100% COMPOSTABLE
CHEMICAL FREE
GLUCOSE

The paper contains a unique form of energy-rich glucose that is appetizing for bees.

HONEY PLANT SEEDS

One of the reasons that bees end up stranded on the ground is that they have to fly further than they used to. By planting the paper an extra “rest stop” for other bees will be created. For them, the plant will be like an island on their way home across an ocean.

LEMON SCENT

During testing we discovered the most beloved scent by the bees is lemon. We implemented this scent into the structure of the paper to attract the bees.

Bee Saving Paper is covered with water-based UV paint, with a pattern full of circles visible only to bees. Why did we choose red circles? What we see as a beautiful meadow, bees see as a field of red circles. These ultraviolet patterns often outline “landing zones” for bees, pointing them towards the parts of plants that contain nectar and pollen. Could there be any better way to attract bees to our paper?

How does it work?

1.Add drop of water

The paper works with or without water. But research has shown that a drop or two onto the surface can give it a little helping hand, allowing the sugar to better dissolve in the water and save your bee.

2. Tear it up

Remember, bees are only small and their mouths are even smaller. So tear up the paper, leave a small piece of it so your bee can enjoy the fibers easily. Don’t leave the whole sheet of paper or product like bag.

3. Plant it!

Did you know Bee Saving Paper can be planted to make new life grow? If you want to plant the paper the best way is to leave it on a “food desert” for bees e.g. an area with a grass but not flowers.

*Seeds and native plants

We use a mix of honey plants and beautiful wildflowers. The natural habitat for these plants is Europe. That means you should keep in mind that these flowers might not be suitable for other parts of the world and may need extra care. If you are not sure, please check if the seeds are native in your local area.

Reason to beelieve?

Each time we develop a new Bee Saving Paper we test it on bees. So we know if they like it or not.

We consult experts in terms of product development. We work with engineer of beekeeping who shares his knowledge with us about bee nutritions.
